These approaches are compared with a basic time-redundancy approach based on the construction of time-redundant abstract data structures with the goal of creating an efficient abstraction of a function. Lastly, the potential for certification-trail-based fault-detection and fault-tolerance is discussed.
An evaluation is provided of the performance of the modified certification-trail approach on the problems described above. In this paper, the following modifications to the certification-trail approach are proposed: (1) transformation to allow use on certification trails of algorithms utilizing abstract data types (2) refinement to allow use on certification trails of algorithms utilizing abstract data types and (3) localization of data structure modules to allow the use of certification trails on abstract data types specific to data structures.
